“事實(shí)證明 中國(guó)做到了” 戴偉(David G. Evans)有很多頭銜，他是牛津大學(xué)畢業(yè)的化學(xué)博士、英國(guó)皇家化學(xué)學(xué)會(huì)北京分會(huì)主席、北京化工大學(xué)特聘外籍教授、英國(guó)官佐勛章獲得者?，F(xiàn)在，他又多了一個(gè)頭銜，那就是在網(wǎng)上擁有300多萬(wàn)粉絲的“科普大V”。
近日，“網(wǎng)紅”戴偉教授系著一條別致的領(lǐng)帶，在北京接受了中國(guó)日?qǐng)?bào)的獨(dú)家專訪。

非典疫情、新冠肺炎疫情，這位英國(guó)著名化學(xué)家兩次都選擇了留在北京。
“我很慶幸我沒(méi)有聽(tīng)從英國(guó)外長(zhǎng)的荒謬建議。疫情初期，他建議所有在中國(guó)的英國(guó)人都應(yīng)該想盡一切辦法趕緊逃離中國(guó)。”I'm very glad I didn't take the ridiculousadvice of the British Foreign Secretary, the Foreign Minister, who near the beginning of the epidemic said thatallBritonsshould get out of China by whatever means possible. “我留下了，并且毫不后悔。”I stayed and certainly don't regret staying。
十七年前非典發(fā)生時(shí)，戴博士就在北京，他說(shuō)，自己親眼見(jiàn)證了中國(guó)是如何舉全國(guó)之力抗擊非典的。
I was here 17 years ago in Beijing during SARS.I saw how China was able to mobilize all of its resources to overcome the epidemic。
“我相信，這次中國(guó)一樣也可以。事實(shí)證明，中國(guó)做到了。”
I was confident that faced with COVID-19,then they'll be equally successfulas it seems,that indeed theyhave。
國(guó)外因囤物資大打出手？ 我身邊的中國(guó)人很鎮(zhèn)定
看到新聞上國(guó)外超市購(gòu)物者為了幾卷衛(wèi)生紙大打出手，戴博士談了疫情期間在中國(guó)的感受。
他介紹稱，自己住在大學(xué)校園里，能夠從學(xué)校里的商店中買到大多數(shù)的日常所需用品，學(xué)校食堂也開(kāi)始賣肉類和蔬菜。對(duì)于其它所需物品，可以通過(guò)快遞把它們寄到學(xué)校，非常方便。校外商店貨量也很充足，“大家都很鎮(zhèn)定。”
我有時(shí)會(huì)去到學(xué)校外的商店，我盡量控制在一周只出去一次。我發(fā)現(xiàn)這些商店都備貨充足，沒(méi)有出現(xiàn)過(guò)某樣?xùn)|西我想買但買不到的情況。 Just occasionally,I try to limit it to once a week. I go to the shops off campusand find that they're very well stocked. I can't notice anything I wanted to buy that I couldn't buy。
大家都很鎮(zhèn)定、理性。
Everybody seems to be behaving calmly and rationally。“根據(jù)我從媒體上看到的報(bào)道，世界其他國(guó)家的情況可并非如此，有個(gè)視頻里兩位老太太為了一大堆衛(wèi)生紙，在超市里扭打了起來(lái)。那么多衛(wèi)生紙你什么時(shí)候才能用完呢？”
Judging by media reports,this is not what's happening in many other countries around the world,seeing the extraordinary scenes of old ladies fighting in the supermarket aisles,for the right to buy a hundred toilet rolls. How long does it take you to use a hundred toilet rolls?
他說(shuō)：“我在中國(guó)就沒(méi)看到這樣的情形。所以我在這里感到很安全，也被照顧得很好。”
I haven't seen anything like these in China.So I feel very safe here,very welllooked after。
中國(guó)的措施是有效的
中國(guó)采取了許多措施來(lái)應(yīng)對(duì)新冠疫情，起初一些措施遭到了西方的批評(píng)。
美國(guó)醫(yī)學(xué)會(huì)雜志上的學(xué)術(shù)文章曾刊發(fā)一張圖表，圖上顯示1月23日，在武漢封城時(shí)，有近400例新冠病例，但是實(shí)際上在那時(shí)，有接近2500位病毒攜帶者。
戴博士說(shuō)，很多相信陰謀論的那些人就會(huì)說(shuō)：“看吧！我早就知道，中國(guó)給我們的是虛假數(shù)據(jù)。但事實(shí)并非如此。”
The conspiracy theories would be saying, "Ah yes, I knew all along!China's giving us fake figures.But actually that's not the case at all."
但實(shí)際情況是：人們剛被新冠病毒感染時(shí)，許多人會(huì)以為自己得了感冒或是普通流感，只有當(dāng)他們的病情加重時(shí)，他們才會(huì)去醫(yī)院進(jìn)行檢測(cè)，然后才會(huì)被確診。
“所以我們可以這樣倒推，比如說(shuō)，七天前，當(dāng)他們的病癥一開(kāi)始顯現(xiàn)時(shí)，就把這個(gè)人當(dāng)作確診病例來(lái)看的話，就會(huì)得出在武漢封城時(shí)，預(yù)估已有接近2500位病毒攜帶者的結(jié)論。”
So you can actually work backwards, and say that seven days ago, for example, when their symptoms first became apparent, this person was actually infected. So that's how you can estimate though,there were around 2500 carriers of the virus when Wuhan was shut down。
戴博士說(shuō)，從這張圖表我們可以看出，封城還是十分有效果的。
“盡管這一做法在西方遭致許多人的批評(píng)，如今其它國(guó)家比如意大利，也正在采取類似的封城措施，因?yàn)樗麄円庾R(shí)到這種做法是有效的。”
And although it was criticized by many people in the West, other countries, Italy for example, and othersare now introducing similar measuresbecause they have seen that it does work。
普通人應(yīng)該從疫情中學(xué)到什么？
戴博士認(rèn)為在這個(gè)時(shí)代，每個(gè)人其實(shí)都需要培養(yǎng)科學(xué)嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)?shù)乃季S。
“從小就樹立起科學(xué)嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)思考的意識(shí)”很有必要，戴博士舉了一個(gè)例子，“意大利患病者的死亡率遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)高于韓國(guó)，有些人看到這個(gè)就會(huì)想當(dāng)然地認(rèn)為，這說(shuō)明韓國(guó)的醫(yī)療系統(tǒng)遠(yuǎn)優(yōu)于意大利。”
但事實(shí)并非這么簡(jiǎn)單。
“我們都知道病死率會(huì)隨著年齡的增長(zhǎng)，而迅速升高，在意大利，老年人占了很大的比重，而韓國(guó)的年輕人占比更大。”
So it's known that the number of fatalities increases rapidlywith the age of the patients. In Italy,the population distribution is heavily skewed toward the elderly. South Korea is a much younger society。
“而且，韓國(guó)對(duì)很多國(guó)民都進(jìn)行了檢測(cè)，即使是輕癥患者也都做了檢測(cè)，如此一來(lái)，病患基數(shù)就很大，用死亡人數(shù)去除以一個(gè)很大的病患數(shù)時(shí)，得出來(lái)的死亡率就會(huì)更低。”
Also,South Korea is doing a huge number of tests, even on patients with very mild symptoms. In that case, you discover a large number of carriers of the virus. So you're dividing your number of death by a very large number,and come up with a low death rate。
不論是外國(guó)人還是中國(guó)人，在這個(gè)時(shí)代，每個(gè)人其實(shí)都需要培養(yǎng)科學(xué)嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)?shù)乃季S。
互聯(lián)網(wǎng)和社交媒體上謠言遍布，如今面臨疫情更是如此。
在國(guó)外有人造謠新冠病毒是被實(shí)驗(yàn)室故意泄露，國(guó)內(nèi)相信喝板藍(lán)根、雙黃連等就能治好病毒。戴博士認(rèn)為，輕信這些謠言只會(huì)讓人更加焦慮，降低免疫力。
他希望，能培養(yǎng)更多人用科學(xué)的態(tài)度看問(wèn)題。這樣很多謠言自然會(huì)被扼殺在民眾理性的判斷里。
把實(shí)驗(yàn)室搬到短視頻平臺(tái)
為何教授也選擇了當(dāng)“網(wǎng)紅”
過(guò)去幾年里，他的工作重心從輔導(dǎo)本科生及博士后轉(zhuǎn)為了與青少年互動(dòng)。他在短視頻平臺(tái)直播自己的實(shí)驗(yàn)，操著流利的中文用通俗幽默的方式展示了許多神奇的化學(xué)實(shí)驗(yàn)場(chǎng)景，穿著白大褂的老爺爺形象也被很多小朋友熟知和喜愛(ài)。
什么時(shí)候開(kāi)始決定做短視頻的呢？
戴博士說(shuō)，之所以開(kāi)張做短視頻是因?yàn)樽约旱闹帧Ｋ闹终f(shuō)，過(guò)年回家發(fā)現(xiàn)親戚朋友都在玩兒快手，想把科學(xué)實(shí)驗(yàn)放到快手上看看。不過(guò)他的助手又有些糾結(jié)，擔(dān)心化學(xué)實(shí)驗(yàn)沒(méi)人愛(ài)看。
他說(shuō)，肯定都沒(méi)人看。
He said,"I'm sure nobody will watch them." 但是我說(shuō)，好啊，我們錄幾個(gè)實(shí)驗(yàn)視頻放上去看看效果如何。
But I said, "Well,okay. Let's do the experiment and see what happens."
在戴博士的鼓勵(lì)下，“戴博士實(shí)驗(yàn)室”賬號(hào)發(fā)出了第一條短視頻。出乎他們的意料，這個(gè)賬號(hào)居然火了，目前擁有330萬(wàn)粉絲。 其實(shí)很早戴博士就開(kāi)始在學(xué)校、科技館組織課外活動(dòng)，在實(shí)驗(yàn)室以外的地方做實(shí)驗(yàn)給更多人看。
戴博士認(rèn)為化學(xué)試驗(yàn)、科學(xué)試驗(yàn)不應(yīng)該是居廟堂之高的東西。普通人同樣應(yīng)該了解科學(xué)的魅力、化學(xué)的魅力。這也是他堅(jiān)持把實(shí)驗(yàn)室搬到短視頻平臺(tái)上的原因。
這些平臺(tái)很好，因?yàn)樗麄兡苡|及身處小城鎮(zhèn)及農(nóng)村里那些無(wú)法親身參與到我們的實(shí)驗(yàn)中來(lái)的人們。 So these are great platforms,because they can reach people in the small towns and the countrysidewho don't have other opportunities to take part。
“未來(lái)的難題不會(huì)由像我這樣的
白發(fā)老頭來(lái)解決”
在戴博士實(shí)驗(yàn)室的短視頻里，我們經(jīng)常會(huì)看到“小小科學(xué)家”跟戴博士一起做實(shí)驗(yàn)。
接受中國(guó)日?qǐng)?bào)專訪時(shí)他表示：“我們希望通過(guò)向他們展示化學(xué)實(shí)驗(yàn)，讓學(xué)生們動(dòng)手操作親自試驗(yàn)，激發(fā)他們的興趣，培養(yǎng)出新一代的化學(xué)家們，以及新一代的科學(xué)家們。”
So we hope by demonstrating chemistry experiments,getting the students actually doing hands-on experiments,we can inspire the next generation of chemists, the next generation of scientists。
“無(wú)論面臨什么難題，我們都需要科學(xué)家來(lái)解決。”在這次新冠疫情中，戴博士更加堅(jiān)定了這種想法。
“大家都在新聞中看到了科學(xué)家們?cè)诳箵粜鹿谝咔榈倪^(guò)程中，所做出的巨大貢獻(xiàn)，從快速基因測(cè)序，到研發(fā)診斷檢測(cè)，長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)來(lái)看，他們還會(huì)成功研制出疫苗。”You all have seen on the news the great contributions, that today's scientists are making to the fight against COVID-19, from quickly sequencing the genome, and then developing diagnostic tests, and in the longer term hopefully a vaccine。
戴博士告訴中國(guó)日?qǐng)?bào)記者：“人類總會(huì)面臨各種各樣的難題，未來(lái)的難題不會(huì)由像我這樣的白發(fā)老頭來(lái)解決。”
The problems in the future aren't going to be solved by whitehead scientists like me。
學(xué)生們通常會(huì)喊著說(shuō)，黑頭發(fā)！黑頭發(fā)！
Andstudentsusually shout up,
"Heitoufa, heitoufa (black hair)."
“沒(méi)錯(cuò)，你們的頭發(fā)現(xiàn)在是黑的。所以我希望你們當(dāng)中有些能夠勤奮學(xué)習(xí)成為科學(xué)家。在未來(lái)，用你們的發(fā)明和發(fā)現(xiàn)造福社會(huì)。”
Yes, your hair is all black at the moment.So I hope that some of you will actually work hard,become scientists. And in the future, you will invent and discover something which will actually benefit society。
“我確信經(jīng)歷這次疫情之后，中國(guó)會(huì)變得更加強(qiáng)大，也希望能盡到自己的一份微薄之力，幫助啟迪培養(yǎng)一批未來(lái)的科學(xué)家。”
So I'm confident that China is going to emerge stronger from this experience andI hope that we can play our very small partby helping to inspire and train some of the future scientists. 別叫我老外
